Shutting itself off is a designed behaviour. Drives monitor their own supply. If the voltage sags or the current goes out of range, the drive cuts power rather than carrying on and damaging itself. What looks like a failure is partly a protection working correctly.
Two very different faults produce the same five seconds. A board component failing under load will drag the rail down. So will a mechanism that is seizing and drawing far more current than it should. From the outside they are indistinguishable, and they lead to completely different work.
A current-limited supply tells them apart without risk. Instead of giving the drive full power and watching what breaks, the bench gives it a controlled supply and watches the shape of the draw through that same five second window. A board fault and a labouring mechanism have different signatures.
Guessing here is expensive. Treat a board fault as mechanical and you open a drive that never needed opening. Treat a mechanical fault as a board problem and you fit a board to a drive that will then try to spin a seized motor. The diagnostic exists to stop both.

Stop cycling it. Each attempt puts a failing component under load again, and components that fail intermittently have a habit of failing permanently, sometimes taking a neighbour with them. Try a different power supply once if the drive uses an external one, because those do fail and it is the cheapest thing to rule out, then stop. Do not buy a replacement board online and fit it. Boards for the same model are not interchangeable, because the adaptive tuning for your specific mechanism is stored on your board and has to be carried across. Post the drive with its own power supply if it has one.
